Across the entire Redlands Coast there is a wealth of school holiday activities on offer this year.

The perfect places for families to visit during the break include Redland City Council Libraries, Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Redland Art Gallery (RAG), and Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC).

Redland City Council Libraries have a jam-packed session of activities – from a puppet show with Puppetrix on 16 December, to the Wombat Stew Live! story time on 20 January.

Children of all ages can also join the Redlands Coast Summer Reading Challenge.

This year’s challenge is themed around the ability of books to transport readers to strange and wonderful new worlds. Click here for more information about the 2025 challenge.

The Redlands Coast Summer Reading Challenge is on again this year.

While these library activities are free, bookings are essential and children 12 years and under must be supervised by a parent or carer. All materials are provided.

For more details on everything happening at the city’s libraries these holidays go to the What’s On page.

At Council’s Redlands IndigiScapes Centre at Capalaba there will be a big backyard play date on 15 December; a minibeast safari for children on 16 December; an upcycling workshop on 17 December; and a Christmas wreath craft workshop on 18 December where people of all ages will be able to make their own Australian native wreaths. For more details, go to the IndigiScapes What’s On page.

Get creative this school holidays with RAG’s free drop-in sessions. In December, kids’ creativity can shine with Shape and Sparkle activity at the Cleveland gallery, with colourful festive drawing and collage while exploring current exhibitions. Then head to RPAC for Explore and Draw at The Mezz gallery, a treasure hunt that turns art into adventure.

In January, RAG offers QAGOMA’s Express Yourself art activities at both galleries, exploring emotion through drawing, collage and more.

Details are available on the RAG website.

RPAC’s school holiday program includes a mix of free and ticketed performances and events.

Returning to RPAC this year is the Bubble and Light Extravaganza, which will include bubble shows, light displays, and fun for all ages on selected evenings in December.

In the new year, families can look forward to the Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty on 10 January, and from 15 to 17 January 360 ALLSTARS will be at the centre. This phenomenal urban circus performance explores all forms of rotation – BMX, basketball, breakdancing, acrobatics, drumming and more.
