Elders from the COOEE Indigenous Family and Community Education Centre in Cleveland recently toured the Willards homestead and farm buildings at Birkdale.
Tours of the heritage-listed property began in early May, with Redland City Acting Mayor Julie Talty saying they had proven popular with many local residents and community groups.
“We have welcomed more than 100 people through so far and several of the upcoming tours are already sold out,” Cr Talty said.
“I encourage people to book in soon if they would like to tour this amazing property.”
Fully conserved by Redland City Council, Willards Farm is located on Birkdale Community Precinct and is one of the last surviving examples of Redlands Coast’s early farming history.

The COOEE Elders were shown how Council conserved the historic property and given insights into the families that once called Willards Farm home.
COOEE is a not-for-profit Indigenous community based, community response initiative developed by Elders to address the education and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and families in Redland City.
Tours of Willards Farm are held on the first and third Wednesday of every month and are led by Council’s Library Local History Adviser and team members. Tickets are $10 plus a booking fee. To book for a tour, visit the Council website.
