There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained on Redlands Coast during the winter school holidays – from drama, magic, art workshops and wildlife shows to basic computer programming and a high-energy circus performance.
Redland City Acting Mayor Julie Talty said a diverse program of events would be offered at Council venues – Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Redland City Libraries, Redland Performing Arts Centre and Redland Art Gallery – from 27 June to 12 July.
“Families really will be spoilt for choice for things to do when the holidays start, with activities planned for both young children and teenagers,” Cr Talty said.
“Many of the activities are free or low-cost, but all require bookings, so I encourage people to check the school holidays listing on Council’s website for all the details.”
Cr Talty said the library team had organised a packed program in addition to the regular teen afternoon activities.
“For teenagers, it’s all about craft with a 3D printing session in the Makerspace at Cleveland Library, squeegee art and clay sculpting.
“For younger children there’s a workshop with the author of The Billywood Chronicles, a magic show and fun day on Russell Island, basic computer programming through games and puzzles, lots of craft activities, and an African drumming workshop.”

Cr Talty said families could head to Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) for mystery, magic and jaw-dropping entertainment or to Redland Art Gallery to get hands-on and creative.
“At RPAC venture into a forgotten place where a mysterious creature is waking in The Riddle of Washpool Gully or be amazed by the breathtaking circus and acrobatics of Cirque Nouvelle.
“Redland Art Gallery offers a program inspired by current exhibitions, with an artist-led zine making session, explorations of native flora and fauna in watercolour and mixed media workshops, immersive drama activities that engage with sustainability in a creative way, and a workshop focused on native animals and plant life through printmaking techniques.
“There are also free drop-in activities at both the gallery and The Mezz, at RPAC, each day.”

Cr Talty said families could enjoy a mix of free and low-cost nature activities at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre during the school holidays.
“Children can explore the gardens and bush tracks through the Nature Detective challenge, with free ice blocks for the first 10 finishers each day,” she said.
“The program also features wildlife shows, koala walks, creative workshops and the Animal Force session, alongside free play and library activities for the whole family.
“Older children and teens can build practical skills through the ReWild You outdoor adventure workshop.”
