A diverse program of music, theatre and dance is set to captivate audiences at Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) over coming months.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the release of RPAC’s August to December program revealed a stellar line-up of local, national and international performances and events.

“The Redlands Coast is fortunate to have a high calibre venue which attracts major acts from around the country and the world,” Cr Williams said.

“This includes the Pacific Choirs Project, which has been impacted by COVID-19 cancellations.

“The project, at RPAC in September, brings a mesmerising selection of local Pacifica choirs to the stage singing songs from Oceania.

“It is wonderful to see such a diverse program and I congratulate the RPAC team for putting together a great mix of activities for our Redlands Coast community to experience over the coming months.”

The line-up of First Nations performers includes Quandamooka man Sachem Parkin-Owens and his work The Bigger Picture. Anchored in music and spoken word poetry, Sachem’s new work highlights his award-winning contemporary sound, weaving in theatrical elements of dance, visual projection and film.

The program also features Dr Jonathon Welch AM, recent Redlands Coast resident, who will host Redlands Sings! Jonathon is most notable for his work with The Choir of Hard Knocks and will bring his signature enthusiasm to a number of all-inclusive events where all ages are welcome, and no singing experience is necessary.

RPAC’s Creative Arts Manager Brad Rush said the RPAC team was very proud of the program.

“It reflects a rich diversity in our programming aspirations, with the next five months jam-packed with experiences that will engage broadly across our communities,” Mr Rush said.

“We’ve got every taste and interest covered, and our post-COVID norm is looking very promising and inspiring.”

The program includes local favourites such as the Redlands Sinfonia with Phantasmagorica, celebrating the creation of other worlds, and light-hearted productions including Menopause the Musical and ’80s mixed tape musical All Fired Up.

There will also be an exciting program of school holiday activities for young people and lively workshops from the likes of Flipside Circus and Junkyard Beats.

Major touring productions such as Jane Eyre, Australian masterpiece The Sapphires, a showcase performance by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, as well as popular tribute shows are expected to attract strong crowds.
