The naturally wonderful tastes of Redlands Coast will be served up at Australia’s largest free food and wine festival, to be held at Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands from 10am-5pm on 20-21 July.

The 11th annual Regional Flavours festival supports Queensland farmers and small businesses, offering a weekend of delicious food, wine, beer and fun.

There will be celebrity chefs and cooking demonstrations, live music, street stalls, kids’ activities and a thriving producer market featuring more than 80 stalls.

Redlands Coast icons Sirromet Wines, Wellington Point Farm, Bacchus Brewing Co La Bouche, Mount Cotton Organic Fruit and Vege, Bayside Seafood, Rufus King Seafoods, Gisler’s Bakery, Orchy Fruit  Juices and Redland Bay Honey will be showcased at the event.

Mayor Karen Williams said Redlands Coast had much to offer food and wine lovers.

“We want to draw the focus to our region’s quality food, wine, beer, and fresh produce,” she said.

“Locally-grown produce, delicious food, exquisite wine and wares will be showcased to the more than 90,000 people predicted to attend the Regional Flavours festival.

“Redlands Coast foodie ambassador and MasterChef runner-up Georgia Barnes – a Redlands Coast resident – will be there with the inside scoop on the freshest local ingredients for roasted strawberry ice cream sundaes and stunningly simple, dressed oysters.

“Private Chefs of Brisbane will be serving Moreton Bay mornay arancini skewers and Redlands Coast creamy seafood chowder with fresh seafood provided by Bayside Seafood, Wellington Point, with the chowder served in a crusty cob loaf from Gisler’s Bakery, Cleveland.

“The sitting will be topped off with Redlands Coast loaded strawberries sourced from Wellington Point Farm and refreshing juice from Redlands Coast’s own Orchy Fruit Juices at Thornlands.

“La Bouche will be serving up delicious meringues, beer brownies, strawberry jam and cherry tomato chutney, with the meringues infused with Redland Bay honey, Wellington Point Farm strawberries, kaffir lime leaves grown at Thornlands and lavender from Wellington Point.”

Cr Williams said Council saw the festival as a great opportunity to showcase Redlands Coast and a small taste of some of what makes the region so special.
