Redland City Council’s 2026–2027 Budget is being prepared with keen attention to the challenging economic environment that currently faces the Redlands Coast community.
Council is working hard to keep rates as affordable as possible, while still paying for the essential services and infrastructure the community relies on every day.
Redland City Acting Mayor Julie Talty said Council’s focus was on delivering a responsible budget that respected the needs of a community that was doing it tough.
“Council’s priority with this year’s Budget is to deliver what matters most to the community in a financially responsible and sustainable way,” Cr Talty said.
“Council understands that many in our community are feeling the impacts of the current harsh economic conditions, with the cost of living continuing to rise.
“The reality is, Council is the biggest business on Redlands Coast, and it feels these responsibilities deeply.
“The cost of delivering the services our community needs has continued to rise sharply – from materials and fuel, to maintaining roads, parks and essential services.
“Every week – line by line – Council is workshopping this year’s Budget to find ways to cut costs and reduce the impact on ratepayers.
“Council’s focus is on minimising any increase in rates, avoiding passing unnecessary costs on to residents, and to make sure every dollar of savings delivered is real.”
The 2026–2027 Redland City Council Budget will be delivered at a special meeting of Council on June 30.
