Applications are being called for the Redland City Mayor’s Multicultural Business Scholarships.

Mayor Karen Williams, who will launch the program on Wednesday, 19 March, said the program recognised that forward-thinking and innovative businesses would play a leading role in the Redlands’ economic future and jobs growth.

“Council is creating a climate for business success in the City but it is up to businesses to embrace the opportunities and make it happen,’’ Cr Williams said.

“This program is designed to help local entrepreneurs with diverse cultural backgrounds, or those who want to relocate businesses here, to access the tools they need for business success.

“I am particularly excited about these scholarships having come from a multicultural background myself and knowing first-hand the positive contribution of those whose parents  have come from  overseas to call the Redlands home.’’

The program will be delivered by Small Business Solutions, part of the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE.

Forms can be found at www.redland.qld.gov.au and at Council Customer Service Centres.

For more information, contact Council on 3829 8507 or Small Business Solutions on 1300 40 60 80.

To be eligible, applicants need to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, aged over 18 years, have at least one parent born overseas and live in Redland City.
