A team of 160 dedicated volunteers helped plant 2000 native plants on Sunday to celebrate National Tree Day in the Redlands.
Council’s environmental spokesperson Cr Paul Gleeson said the event was not only helped by those who turned up on the day, but also Mother Nature.
“The planting was helped by the rain, which came the evening before, making the soil perfect for the plants to go in their prepared holes,” he said.

“The planting helped to extend creek side vegetation along Eprapah Creek, which is a significant corridor for wildlife.
“The trees planted will help future generations of residents and local wildlife.
“The event also had a fun element with a free BBQ by Sunrise Rotary, free activities for the kids as well as displays on wildlife and environmental programs.
“Council’s Bushcare Program and the local Luke Street Bushcare Group will now work to keep the plantings healthy and weed free.”
