Community organisations across Redlands Coast are invited to apply for funding to help them deliver events and activities during Queensland Seniors Month in October.
Redland City Acting Mayor Julie Talty said Council’s Seniors Month Funding Program aimed to support initiatives that encouraged positive ageing, increased social connections and promoted community participation.
“Seniors Month is an opportunity to celebrate our older residents and recognise the important contributions they continue to make to our community,” Cr Talty said.
“Whether they are in paid work, volunteering, leading community groups or supporting families as carers and grandparents, seniors play a vital role in shaping our city.
“Council is committed to creating an age‑friendly community where seniors have opportunities to enjoy healthy, fulfilling lives and remain actively involved in ways that suit them.”
In 2025, Council awarded more than $12,800 in funding to help nine local not-for-profit organisations host activities such as arts and crafts workshops, a high tea, festivals, a wellness workshop and community concert.
Cr Talty said supporting initiatives for older residents was a key action in Council’s Redlands Coast Age‑friendly Action Plan 2021–2026.
“Activities funded through the Seniors Month Funding Program encourage older people to connect, engage and participate in ways that promote wellbeing and social inclusion,” she said.
“These activities can be active or passive, catering for both energetic seniors and those who may have limited opportunities to get out and about.”
Eligible community organisations can apply for funding up to $2000 in the 2026 Seniors Month Funding Program.
Applications close at 5pm on Monday 22 June 2026.
