The community can now provide feedback on a draft plan that presents Redland City Council’s vision and priorities for improving community safety on Redlands Coast.
Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the Draft Redlands Coast Community Safety Action Plan outlined a framework for Council’s community safety programs and initiatives.
“This is an important document that will guide Council’s actions and role in enhancing the safety and wellbeing of our residents,” Cr Talty said.

“While the Queensland Police Service is the lead government agency for the detection, investigation and prosecution of crime in the state, Council regularly collaborates with police representatives and delivers a range of services to enhance safety in the community.
“The draft plan was prepared following last year’s consultation with the community and other key stakeholders such as Queensland Police Service, community leaders and local groups.
“The consultation revealed the key areas the community wanted Council to focus on were reducing antisocial behaviour in public spaces, creating safe public spaces and facilities, and supporting social cohesion and wellbeing.”
Cr Talty said the draft action plan focused on core local government roles and responsibilities in the context of broader concerns and community-level interventions.
“This includes the delivery of services such as graffiti management, supporting homelessness responses and local level safety initiatives, and providing security cameras for Council asset protection in public open spaces,” she said.
“The delivery of a Community Safety Action Plan is a key initiative of the Redlands Coast Stronger Communities Strategy that Council adopted in 2024.
“The priorities identified in the action plan also align with goals within Council’s Corporate Plan, demonstrating a commitment to keeping our city strong, connected, safe and resilient.”
The community can provide feedback on the draft plan until Monday 6 April by completing an online survey or by picking up a survey from Council offices or libraries.
Officers will review and consider all feedback, with any amendments to the draft plan included in the final draft to be presented at a General Meeting for Council consideration and adoption.
