“This visit provided an opportunity for Council officers to explain their important work in koala protection and conservation,” the Mayor said.

“We thank the Governor for her genuine interest and generosity of time.

“We were delighted to learn that the IndigiScapes Nursery has provided native stock for the Government House garden.”

Division 7 Councillor Rowanne McKenzie, who attended the lunch, said it was great to welcome the Governor back to the city.

“The Governor previously visited in an official capacity in March last year to learn about Council’s recovery efforts from ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred,” Cr McKenzie said.

“During that visit, the Governor took the time to meet with local residents, volunteers and staff at one of our Community Recovery Hubs and showed compassionate interest in the stories and experiences of those affected.

“Her return demonstrates an ongoing commitment to understanding the opportunities we have in our city.”
