The community and stakeholders are invited to have their say on two Redland City Council draft strategies that set a pathway for achieving a more accessible, and connected Redlands Coast.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the Draft Cleveland Centre Local Area Transport Plan 2025–2046 (LATP) and the citywide Draft Redlands Coast Active Transport Strategy 2025–2046 (ATS) were open for comment from today (30 June 2025) until 27 July, 2025.
Both plans were endorsed at Council’s General Meeting earlier this month.

“They form part of a wider vision to transform how people move around Redlands Coast as the city prepares for significant population, employment and visitor number growth over the next two decades,” the Mayor said.
The LATP outlined a long-term vision for improving access, safety and connectivity in and through Cleveland Centre, in support of the area’s growth; while the ATS looked at how to develop the future of active transport such as walking and cycling on Redlands Coast.
“The LATP sets out how we can future-proof Cleveland with better walking, cycling, and public transport connections, while still accommodating essential vehicle and disability access in a more balanced way,” the Mayor said.
“Cleveland is one of Redlands Coast’s key commerce, lifestyle, and cultural destinations, and its continued success depends on how easy and enjoyable it is for people to get there and to move around.”
Transport Portfolio Councillor Shane Rendalls said the Active Transport Strategy offered a unique opportunity to reimagine travel for the city’s residents and visitors.
“The strategy shows how we can create a more connected and inclusive network of walking and riding facilities, particularly within five kilometres of our major destinations,” he said.
“Encouraging more people to walk and ride not only reduces congestion and pollution but also helps build thriving, vibrant communities.”

How: Go to the Redlands Coast on the move: Future access and mobility | Your Say Redlands Coast page (www.yoursay.redland.qld.gov.au) and complete the online surveys. While there, register your interest to hear about other transport strategies over the coming months.
Where else: You can also fill out physical surveys at Council Libraries, or Council’s Customer Services Centres in Cleveland, Capalaba and Victoria Point. You can also have a chat about the strategies with Council officers who will be at the city’s ferry terminals at various times during July.
