Infrastructure grants help groups build on their success

Redland City Council has provided support for nine community organisations and groups through the 2024-2025 Capital Infrastructure grant.

Capital Infrastructure grants are available to assist eligible organisations build, renovate or refurbish community facilities on Redlands Coast, including hard-wired technology upgrades.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said funding under the 2024-2025 program came to $190,998.

“This will provide a boost to these nine groups to achieve their goals of building refurbishments, adding outdoor decks to their buildings, and for a football club to build a state-of-the-art digital display tower,” she said.

The Capital Infrastructure Support Funding recipients were:

  • Redlands Sea Dragons – Installation of roof flashing at the Dragon Boating Club’s clubhouse at Redland Bay, $3300.
  • Russell Island Bowls Club Inc – Construction of a new covered deck that will allow the club to cater for larger bowls competitions and community events, $48,700.
  • Tingira Boat Club Inc (Macleay Island) – Provide materials and construction of an extension to the existing wooden deck within the current roofline, $10,000.
  • The University of the Third Age Redlands District Inc (U3AR) – Fit out of the kitchen in the new U3A Redlands Learning Centre, Cleveland, $8438.19.
  • Birkdale Baptist Church – To construct a sunsafe outdoor community space, $10,000.
  • Point Lookout Bushcare Inc. – Build a durable standard steel garden storage shed (3.1m x 3.1m) to replace the existing shed on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), $9630.
  • Coochiemudlo Island Coastcare Inc – Construction of a 9.7m x 8m wide shed to be used as an environmental hub, storage facility and base of operations, $44,425.16.
  • Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd (trading as RAWCS Northern Region) – Renovation works to group’s Alexandra Hills buildings include replacing awnings with a closed-in shed with an external concrete set-down area; installation of an accessible carpark and ramp, $41,986.65.
  • Capalaba Bulldogs Football Club – Installation of a state-of-the-art media tower that will feature a high-resolution digital display for real-time game updates, live streaming of matches, and promotional content for events, $14,518.
