Coordinated by Redland Art Gallery (RAG), the Redland Art Awards 2024 features five prizes with a total prize pool of more than $30,000. This represents an increase in value from the 2022 awards, aligning with national prize pools.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said Redlands Coast was well known for its diverse art culture and Council was committed to increasing its support and investment in the arts sector.

“Since 1981, the Redland Art Awards have shone a light on outstanding Australian artists and this year, the exhibition of work by the finalists will coincide with the Redland Art Gallery’s 21st birthday celebrations,” she said.

“The 2022 awards attracted 479 high-calibre entries from across Australia and with the significant increase in our 2024 prize pool, it is anticipated the number of entries will also increase this year.”

Redland Art Gallery Manager Kerryanne Farrer said the 2024 awards offer a major prize of $20,000 which will see the winning artwork acquired for the Redland City Council collection.

“This year we have added a new category where the winner will be selected by the Redland Arts Membership Program (RAMP) members in a special preview event,” Ms Farrer said.

“We are also pleased to announce our lead judge for 2024 will be Steven Alderton, Director and CEO of the National Art School Sydney and former Director of the Redland Art Gallery during the establishment of the gallery 21 years ago.”

A pre-selection panel of local art industry experts will short-list a selection of works for final judging.

The Redland Art Awards 2024 will culminate in an exhibition featuring finalists’ artwork to be held at RAG Cleveland, from Sunday 8 December 2024 to Tuesday 28 January 2025.

At the end of the exhibition, the Meridith Foxton People’s Choice Award will be announced by the sponsors of this award, Redland Yurara Art Society committee members.

Entries for the Redland Art Awards 2024 close at 3pm AEST on Tuesday 8 October 2024. To enter and for more information go to:  redlandartawards.com.au
