Redlands IndigiScapes Centre is giving people the chance to get in touch with their ‘wild’ side at their Wonderful Wildlife Day from 10am – 2pm on Friday 26 September 2014.

With the chance to see some fascinating local wildlife including a wedge-tailed eagle and koala from 11am – 1pm, the day will be a great, free way to entertain the kids during school holidays.

Redland City Council’s Community and Cultural Services spokesperson Cr Lance Hewlett said IndigiScapes, located at Runnymede Road, Capalaba, would have a range of activities on offer, including a fashion parade with a difference.

“To get into the spirit of the day, we’d love to see kids come dressed as their favourite animal and take part in our animal fashion parade,” Cr Hewlett said.

“We’ll swap the traditional catwalk for a koala-walk and there will even be a prize for our best-dressed animal.”

Wonderful Wildlife Day, being held as part of Save the Koala month celebrations, will have displays from the Koala Action Group, Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland, Bat Conservation and Rescue and Redlands Wildlife Rescue.

Activities on the day include wildlife talks, storytelling, craft, art classes and a colouring-in competition.

People can make a day of it by bringing a picnic, enjoying the community fundraising barbeque or having lunch at onsite Tea Garden Café.

‘Save the Koala’ month is an annual Australian Koala Foundation awareness campaign highlighting koala conservation.
