The Redlands’ reputation as a tourism hot spot will be enhanced with the launch of new sailing charter boat Axis Vitae.
Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the launch of the new vessel by local charter company Robinson Cruises showed the confidence in the local tourism industry.
“Located on the beautiful Moreton Bay with access to islands and coastal locations, the Redlands has plenty to offer visitors and locals and this new vessel will only serve to enhance this offering,” she said.

Cr Williams said the launch of Axis Vitae, which translates to “centre of life”, meant the Redlands now had the largest offering of charter catamarans in South East Queensland.
“Raby Bay is the centre for the Redlands’ charter cruises and it’s no wonder with fantastic marina services, and popular restaurants and bars, combined with an easy to reach location,” she said.
“This new vessel represents a significant investment from Robinson Cruises, showing the confidence that exists in the local tourism industry.
“Currently more than a million visitors a year come to the Redlands to enjoy our first class tourist locations and this will no doubt increase thanks to the passion of local tourism operators.”
Wayne Lamb owner of Robinson Cruises said although the company already operated sailing charters, the growing tourism market meant a larger yacht was needed to cater for demand.
“The Redlands is positioned at the centre point for over two million Queenslanders who are within an easy drive. Local day trippers celebrating special occasions together with their visiting friends and relatives are a key market segment for us,” he said.
“The islands of the Redlands, with their cultural heritage and stunning visual beauty are so easily accessed from Raby Bay. Where else in the world can you sail with turtles, dolphins and whales, swim at pristine sandy beaches, feast on bush tucker and walk through native bushland in the same day and all this is within 45 min drive from the CBD of a capital city?
“Additionally, having such a large business community so close by makes the Redlands ideally located for hosting unique corporate functions and team building events.”
Mayor Williams will launch the new vessel Axis Vitae on Saturday 9 August at 11.30am at the Raby Bay Harbour pontoon, followed by a cruise for invited guests.
The launch event will be hosted by Lightwave Yachts Group (Aust) who built the vessel and Robinson Cruises.
