Redland City Mayor Karen Williams today urged residents to have their clean green waste ready on the footpaths by Sunday 10 February, for the last round of Council’s post-storm kerbside collections commencing on Monday 11 February.
Cr Williams said it may take a few weeks after 11 February to pick up all the green-waste left out across the city.
“Even if Council officers have already been picking up green waste in your area, rest assured, another round of collection is planned from this Monday,” Cr Williams said.

“I would like to thank those who have already left out their clean green-waste, and remind all residents that it needs to be free of non-green matter including bags, general rubbish, furniture, cement, concrete, steel, timber and dirt (other than dirt on the tree roots).
“The green waste Council collects will be recycled into mulch, so our officers will not pick up green waste that is left out for collection with contaminants that prevent such treatment.
“These contaminated piles will be left for your own disposal.
“It’s not too late to remove contaminants,” Cr Williams said.
Clean green waste left for collection should:
- Not contain any other waste such as general rubbish, furniture, cement, concrete, steel, timber or dirt (unless from the tree root)
- Be neatly stacked, with heavier tree limbs on the bottom to avoid the pile toppling over
- Be left loose, and not packed in bags or boxes (tying with string is ok).
You can dispose of other items and smaller amounts of green waste for free at the city’s waste transfer stations.
The free green waste kerbside collection is a one-off free service being offered to residents in the wake of the wild weather resulting from ex-cyclone Oswald.
