Redland City Council is again supporting local participation in Clean Up Australia Day by supplying organisations with kerbside wheelie bins or skip bins for their clean-up activities.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the national clean-up event was an opportunity for residents to get hands on in protecting the Redlands Coast environment.
“From our beautiful island beaches to our bushland reserves and open spaces, every natural area of Redlands Coast needs to be protected,” the Mayor said.

“Litter is damaging to the environment and puts our wildlife and marine life at risk, particularly when it enters our local waterways.
“Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to do your part in keeping the environment clean and maintaining the natural beauty of our city.
“You can get involved by finding a local clean-up spot, joining a registered event listed on the Clean Up Australia Day website, or by starting and registering a group clean-up event yourself.
“As has been the case for several years, Council is supporting the event by providing free kerbside wheelie bins or skip bins to registered event organisers who apply before the deadline.”
Events must be registered with Clean Up Australia by Tuesday 10 February 2026 (islands) and Tuesday 17 February (mainland) for groups to be eligible for a Council bin.

Recycling and Waste Portfolio representative Cr Tracey Huges said individuals, schools, local businesses and community groups were encouraged to participate in the national clean-up.
“This is your chance to make a real difference to our naturally wonderful Redlands Coast environment,” Cr Huges said.
“Whether you’re participating individually or joining a group clean-up in your part of the city, every effort across the mainland and islands helps to prevent litter from entering our waterways and harming our wildlife.
“Council encourages residents to put their safety first during all clean-up activities by steering clear of roadsides and other dangerous areas.
“By keeping litter out of the environment, we can ensure Redlands Coast remains a naturally wonderful place for generations to come.”
Clean Up Australia Day events will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday 24 February: Business Clean Up day
- Friday 27 February: School Clean Up day
- Sunday 1 March: Community Clean Up day
