A major upgrade of the Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) forecourt is now complete, with all areas of the new-look space officially open to the public.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said the project had delivered a welcome uplift to the popular arts and culture venue.

“RPAC has been an icon of Cleveland and Redlands Coast for many years and this upgrade will ensure it remains the home of the arts in our community well into the future,” the Mayor said.

“The new-look forecourt features a small outdoor performance deck, covered alfresco area, permanent seating, enhanced accessibility, improved gardens and increased lighting.

“The centre entrance has also been renewed to create an exciting entry moment for the more than 60,000 people who visit RPAC each year for shows and other events.

“While the best entertainment at RPAC will always be on the stage, the experience outside the venue on event days will go to another level with the delivery of this upgraded space.”

Division 2 Councillor Peter Mitchell said the new forecourt was great news for showgoers and an important upgrade for the long-standing venue.

“This project will improve the visitor experience for RPAC guests and other users, while also contributing to placemaking within the Cleveland CBD and boosting the nighttime economy,” Cr Mitchell said.

“We know RPAC is a major drawcard for Cleveland, with people travelling from across Redlands Coast and neighbouring cities to experience shows and other events at the venue.

“Delivering these upgrades to the forecourt will ensure it remains a key attraction into the future and continues to draw high-profile acts to Redlands Coast.

“This is an important economic and lifestyle enhancement for our city that will benefit several generations of Redlanders.”

The Box Office has relocated back to RPAC from Council’s Cleveland Administration Building and is open from 9am–4pm, Monday to Friday as well one hour prior to advertised performances.

Encore Coffee has also reopened and is operating during the usual hours of 7.30am–1.30pm Monday to Friday plus one hour prior to advertised performances.

More information about the forecourt upgrade project can be found on the RPAC website, along with a schedule of upcoming events and booking details.
