The Redlands Coast community is being invited to have its say on Redland City Council’s strategic priorities as the organisation commences its Corporate Plan review.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the preliminary community engagement process, which started on Saturday 17 May, was an important step in creating a shared strategy for the city.
“Council is calling on all members of the community to have their say during the initial consultation phase to ensure the Corporate Plan reflects the needs and aspirations of our residents,” the Mayor said.

“The Corporate Plan is a strategic document that outlines Council’s vision, goals and priorities for the next five years and helps Council make decisions about its budget and resource allocation.
“During the preliminary engagement phase, Council is asking members of the community to list their three priorities for the city and what they value most about living and working on Redlands Coast.”
Under the Local Government Act 2009 and the Local Government Regulation 2012, Council is required to update its Corporate Plan every five years to ensure it meets the current needs of the community.
The next Corporate Plan is due to cover the period from 2026–2031 and will also set a long-term goal to guide Council’s strategic direction.
The Mayor said the review process would also help Council reflect on its current service delivery and identify where greater efficiencies could be achieved within the organisation.
“Inviting the community to be involved at this early stage ensures their opinions are central to the development of the Plan,” she said.
“Current Councillors and Council’s Executive Leadership Team also provide their input during this phase.
“The last time Council conducted community consultation on the Corporate Plan was in 2020, and it goes without saying that our city has experienced considerable change since then.
“Council has been monitoring the impacts of global trends on the city and its operations and will also take these into consideration as it begins developing the new Corporate Plan.”
The community engagement activities being undertaken between now and mid-June include an online survey and pop-up stalls at key Council and community events.
Members of the community are also invited to express interest in participating in planning targeted focus groups or a community and stakeholder workshop.
The community’s input will be used to develop a draft Corporate Plan, which will be released for public comment later this year.
The plan will then be revised based on the community’s feedback before a final version is presented for adoption at the General Meeting of Council in December 2025.
