Redland City Council is encouraging individuals, schools, local businesses and community groups across the city to get involved in Clean Up Australia Day 2025.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said Council would be supporting the clean-up efforts once again by providing either skip bins or kerbside wheelie bins for registered events run by local organisations.

“From our beautiful green spaces to our picturesque island beaches, each and every natural area of Redlands Coast needs protecting,” the Mayor said.

“Litter is not only unsightly for the community, but it also puts at risk our local wildlife populations and can impact the health of our city’s many waterways and critical catchment areas.

“Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to join a local clean up initiative in your community or register a local event with your school, sport club or community group.

“To support locals in their efforts to protect our environment, Council will provide either skip bins or kerbside wheelie bins to registered participants where requested.”

Events must be registered with Clean Up Australia by Tuesday 11 February 2025 (mainland) and Tuesday 4 February (islands) to be eligible for a Council bin.

Organisers can request a bin by calling Council on 3829 8999 or emailing [email protected].

“Whether you’re getting friends together to participate in a large-scale clean-up or going it alone in your own neighbourhood, every contribution helps,” the Mayor said.

“Please ensure you remain safe during your event or activity by avoiding hazardous locations such as roadside clean ups and other dangerous areas.”

Clean up Australia Day 2025 events will be held on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 25 February: Business Clean Up day
  • Friday 28 February: School Clean Up day
  • Sunday 2 March: Community Clean Up day
