Redland City Council congratulates Bay Island Lifestyle in Cleveland for winning a Gold award for Excellence in Accessible Tourism at the 2025 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards last week.
Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the achievement recognised the operator’s commitment to supporting all visitors and residents to enable them to further experience our naturally wonderful Redlands Coast.
“Council’s tourism team works closely with all tourism operators on Redlands Coast to identify opportunities to grow the visitor economy by attracting visitors, and providing support to deliver new and sustainable experiences,” Cr Talty said.
“Accessible tourism is of growing importance to the state’s tourism industry and Council’s support of operators who provide accessible programs delivers on one of the actions within Council’s Redlands Coast Destination Management Plan 2023-2028.
“Operators who cater to and support visitors and residents of all abilities provide invaluable social benefits to our community.
“The Qantas Australian Tourism Award is a significant national accolade and this recognition of a Redlands Coast tourism operator is something the whole community can be proud of, especially as only seven of the 26 gold winners were from Queensland.”
Bay Island Lifestyle provides water-based experiences that enable people of all abilities to enjoy the waters of Moreton Bay through equipment hire and support ranging from seated paddleboards, kayaks with extra stability, tailored waterbikes and a range of beach and water mobility wheelchairs.
