The Redlands Coast 2032 Legacy Working Group was also given an overview of the work previously undertaken on a draft vision document and discussed what the potential next steps would involve to progress development of a legacy.

“Members of the working group bring a wealth of expertise across a variety of sectors and will help Council develop a Redlands Coast 2032 Legacy Roadmap that amplifies social, economic, cultural and environmental benefits before, during and long after the Games,” Cr Talty said.

The January meeting also included updates on recent delegations to Redlands Coast, including the Governor of Queensland and the International Canoe Federation and Paddle Australia.

Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) Acting Program Director Richard May provided a presentation on the Redland Whitewater Centre project.

Well wishes were shared with group member Noemie Fox OAM who was to compete at the 2026 Penrith Open, which draws an international field, held from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 February 2026.

Noemie made the finals for all three Women’s Canoe Slalom events (Canoe, Kayak and Kayak Cross), winning a silver medal in the Women’s Canoe Final.

The Redlands Coast 2032 Legacy Working Group is scheduled to next meet on 13 March 2026.
