An easier way to choose a career and prepare for job interviews will become a reality, in virtually no time at all thanks to a new service from Redland City Council Libraries.

Virtual reality (VR) headsets and career exploration software will be available for borrowing from the Capalaba Library, located in Capalaba Central Shopping Centre, from Tuesday 7 October 2025, in time for the start of Term 4 of the school year.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said the headsets were available to Workforce Australia providers, disability employment service providers, schools, registered training organisations, and community groups that support job seekers.

“Council is very pleased to offer local organisations free access to state-of-the-art Work Window VR headsets – a powerful new tool to support job seekers, students and community members,” the Mayor said.

“They are a great way to explore careers via interactive job simulations, develop job readiness and practice interviews in a fully immersive environment.

“The technology allows users to feel like they are really there – allowing them to narrow in on their career options and build confidence in their career development journey.”

Groups interested in borrowing the equipment should contact Redland City Council Libraries on [email protected] or phone Capalaba Library on 07 3843 8012. Reservations are essential and headsets can be borrowed for up to two weeks.

The initiative is supported by the Workforce Australia Local Jobs Program – Brisbane South East, funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
