Redland City Council’s second annual Tech Savvy Tech Safe Forum will be held later this month to help educate the Redlands Coast community on how to keep children and young people safe when online.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said cyber safety required a whole of community approach with parents/guardians/carers having a primary role.

“Council is proud to also have a role by helping inform our adult community members on the resources and tools available; on how to talk with young people about staying safe in online spaces; and where to seek help if required,” the Mayor said.

“It is a must attend for parents and carers struggling to understand how to keep their kids and young people safe online; as well as being a great opportunity to hear from experts who have practical strategies to support you.

“The forum aligns with a number of actions outlined in the Redlands Coast Young People’s Action Plan 2024-2027.

“As part of this plan, Council is committed to supporting the wellbeing of all young people on Redlands Coast.”

Council is hosting the forum in partnership with key child safety agencies including Queensland Police Service, Australian Federal Police Service, ThinkUKnow, Centre Against Sexual Violence, Kids Helpline, and Crimestoppers.

It will be held at the Alexandra Hills Hotel and Conference Centre, Alexandra Hills on Wednesday 18 June from 5.30-7.30pm

This is a free event, however bookings are essential as places are limited. For bookings go to: Tech Savvy Tech Safe | Eventbrite

Due to the nature of the forum’s content, entry is restricted to people 15 years of age and older. Counsellors will be on site to assist anyone triggered by information provided at the event.
