Redlands residents are encouraged to get in quick for this year’s Redland City Mayoral Prayer Breakfast with tickets for the popular event going on sale from Monday 20 July.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the annual event would be held Friday 28 August 2015 at Redlands Sporting Club from 6.45am to raise funds for local school chaplains.

“This event has helped support school chaplaincy programs in the Redlands since 2003 and is now a popular event for locals looking to give back to the community,” Cr Williams said.

“Last year’s Mayoral Prayer Breakfast raised more than $13,000 to support the local community and with Wez Hone as this year’s guest speaker I am confident tickets will sell out well in advance of the event.

“Wez is one of one of Australia’s leading ‘faith in business’ thinkers, applying his strong faith to his own success in business.

“While religion is not always considered in business sectors, Wez is an example of how maintaining a solid faith can apply across both.

“Having run several successful businesses in retail, software development and trades and licensing, Wez understands the importance of combining business and religious strategies to achieve success.

“This event is always popular with a cross-section of local businesses and Wez’s presence is sure to attract even more interest from business, government and community leaders.”

Cr Williams said she had seen first-hand how the event changed the lives of local youth.

“Support for students through school chaplaincy programs has the potential to change lives, providing guidance and helping local students fulfil their potential,” she said.

“This is a great opportunity for us to make a positive difference in the lives of students, schools and our community.”
