Forty applicants will be selected for the program, which focuses on the development of leadership skills and democratic processes.

It will run from 21 to 26 June in Brisbane and include workshops, presentations and cultural activities.

Participants will also have opportunities to work with mentors and network with elders and other respected indigenous community leaders, as well as Members of Parliament.

The last day of the program will provide a mock legislative experience — the Eric Deeral Indigenous Youth Parliament. Workshops leading up to the day will prepare participants to develop a debate for or against a proposed Bill, and raise issues of personal importance in the presence of elected Members of Parliament.
