Connor returns for Christmas by Starlight

Connor Crawford is a busy bloke – auditions, auditions, auditions!

But doors are opening a lot easier these days for the former Sheldon College student, especially since his starring role as Frankie Valli in the Australian version of the critically acclaimed Jersey Boys.

Connor – now living in Melbourne – has spent the past few months working closely with industry icon Nancy Hayes as an associate director for the Australian musical, Summer Rain.

Fun for all on family-friendly festive trail

He arrived “home” in the Redlands last week – he’s been visiting family and friends and rehearsing for his role as headline act at this year’s FREE Christmas by Starlight community concert in Cleveland (December 7).

“It’s great to catch up with everyone,” he said. “I’m pretty busy rehearsing for Christmas by Starlight but I’m lucky to also be able to catch up with family and a couple of close friends.”

Connor, whose commitment to perfection on stage was nurtured at Sheldon College, has been perfecting his routine with the school’s orchestra ahead of the biggest night of free family festive fun in the Redlands.

“I attended school here so I know the commitment the students make … they stay behind, they practice, they learn the fundamentals that set them up for success – it’s a good base for when they enter the workforce.”

Connor will perform several traditional Carols and a few of Frankie Valli’s biggest hits when he takes the stage in front of up to 15,000 people at Christmas by Starlight on December 7. He heads up a cavalcade of local talent for the FREE night of festive family fun at Norm Price Park – Redland Showgrounds, Long Street, Cleveland.

Also in the line-up are Kiara Rodrigues, Breanna Fielding, beat-boxer Matt Gibbs, Oliver Samson, Gina Limpus and Indea Sekula, Jacqui McLaren, Katie Green, Sarah Przybysz, Courtney Heaton, Meg McGuiness, the Sheldon College Choir and Orchestra … and even more!

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams says: “Christmas is a very special time of year for families so we are making sure we have something for everyone.

“There will be children’s entertainment from 3pm, a special children’s concert from 5.30pm, and traditional twilight carols from 6pm as well as a spectacular fireworks finale at about 8pm.”

The event is run by Redland City Council, with the assistance of Energex, Bayside Bulletin, JJ Richards, Fiteni Homes, Stradbroke Flyer, Viking Rentals, SS Signs, Mr Fireworks, Koala Graphix and Christmas Festivities.

Check www.redland.qld.gov.au/cbs for a full program and details of free transport.

Christmas by Starlight is an alcohol-free event.
