Redland City Council will celebrate International Day of the World’s Indigenous People with a special free event next Friday (9 August) at the Cleveland Library.

Council spokesman for Arts, Culture and Innovation Paul Bishop said the United Nations International Day of the World’s Indigenous People was a great opportunity to acknowledge Council’s commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people living in the Redlands.

“In particular, it is a chance to showcase the achievements and contributions that our local Aboriginal people make and to improve our understanding of their cultural ties to the Quandamooka area, known today as Redlands, and to their values and cultural practices,” Cr Bishop said.
