A final round of free go cards will be available for pick up by Southern Moreton Bay Island (SMBI) residents next week.

To help SMBI residents get ready for the 1 July switchover to the TransLink go card ticketing system, complimentary cards with a $10 travel credit can be picked up from Bay Island Community Services (BICS) premises on Macleay and Russell Islands.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said that there were still cards left over from the two Countdown to TransLink community events held on the islands last week.

“This is a great opportunity for residents who are yet to have a go card to head along and get a free card,” Cr Williams said.

“Council has worked with Bay Island Community Services (BICS) to arrange a final distribution of the free cards for island residents who could not make it to the community events last week.

“Bay Island Community Services has kindly agreed to distribute the rest of the go cards – available for adults, children, seniors and concession card holders – on Wednesday 26, Thursday 27 and Friday 28 June from 10am to 2pm.”

Division 5 Councillor Mark Edwards said those interested in securing a complimentary go card should take advantage of next week’s give-away, as there would be no more free cards available after this time.

“It is important people take up the offer between 10am and 2pm on the nominated days,” Cr Edwards said.

As part of the giveaway it is a requirement that all cards are registered and those who’ve previously received a free card – or who already own a pre-registered card – will be ineligible to get another go card.

SMBI Island residents can pick up their free go cards from:
Bay Island Community Services
55 Jackson Road
Russell Island

Bay Island Community Services
Cnr Southsea Terrace and High Central Road
(co-located with Council’s community hall)
Macleay Island

Go cards are also available for purchase from the Redland Bay Ticket Office at Weinam Creek Marina, Russell Island News, Macleay Island Post Office and Redland Bay News.
