Redland City Council is coming to the rescue of local parents with another jam-packed school holiday program to keep kids happy.

Coordinated by Council’s Redland Libraries, Redland Art Gallery and Redland IndigiScapes Centre teams, the program runs through December and January and offers a huge range of free or low-cost activities.

It caters for junior avid readers, tech fans, art enthusiasts, environmental explorers, budding bush tucker chefs and more.

The school holiday program begins in December with storytelling and Christmas craft, as well as beading and robot making workshops at the libraries.

This is a taste of what’s on offer when activities re-start in early January:

  • Redland Libraries: Dino story fun, lost world adventures, Goosebumps Day Out, 3D Design and a Mario Kart tournament.
  • Redlands IndigiScapes Centre: Creek critter exploration, baking bush tucker biscuits, recycled craft and ‘Creatures of the Dark’ spotlighting.
  • Redland Art Gallery: APT8 Kids on Tour art workshops and Family Sundays at the Art Gallery.

Some activities do require bookings and fill quickly.

To see the full list of activities and their dates, details and booking information visit www.redland.qld.gov.au/SchoolHolidayActivities

Redland Libraries are also running a Summer Reading Club, open to children, teens and adults.

All you need to do is register online or at one of Council’s libraries and keep track of the books you read to be in the running for some great prizes including tablets, smartphone projectors, vouchers, books and game bundles.

Visit www.redland.qld.gov.au/library for details on the Summer Reading Club.

Outside the program, Redland Libraries, Redland Art Gallery and Redlands IndigiScapes Centre are also community venues where you can always have a great free family day out.
