Redland Art Gallery’s 2015 exhibition calendar will end with a celebration of local artistry.

Redland City Council’s cultural spokesperson Cr Lance Hewlett said the final exhibitions for the year, In Focus 2015 (running over two galleries) and Sense of Coochie: Flying Arts Touring Curator Project would showcase Redlands’ talent.

“It has been another highly successful year for Redland Art Gallery,” Cr Hewlett said.

“We have once again seen thousands of people visiting our galleries, attracted major touring exhibitions, hosted school groups and holiday activities and connected artists with our local community.

“One of the gallery’s key priorities is nurturing local arts and culture, so it’s great to see us ending the year on a high note with a reminder of the talent right here in our City.

“These exhibitions are made up of diverse, thought-provoking, vivid and beautiful artworks that tell their own unique stories of Redlands.”

Presented simultaneously at both galleries, In Focus 2015 celebrates the important role art groups play in the cultural life of the region.

Art groups participating in In Focus 2015 are Redland Yurara Art Society, The Coochie Art Group, Hilary Wakeling Art Group, Macleay Island Arts Complex, Russell Island Community Arts, Salt Water Murris Quandamooka, The Fundamentalists, Smart Arts Creative Textiles, U3A Watercolour Group, Redlands Creative Alliance and The Old School House Gallery.

In Focus 2015 can be viewed at Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba from Saturday 14 November 2015 until Sunday 23 January 2016 and in the Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland from Sunday 29 November 2015 to Sunday 17 January 2016.
