2.30pm – An update on Brown Lake (North Stradbroke Island) bushfires from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service – QFES
Fire crews remain on scene at a large bushfire in the vicinity of Brown Lake, North Stradbroke Island. Firefighters are hopeful that water bombing from two fixed wing aircraft on a fire on the southern end of the island around Native Companion Lagoon and a helitack bombing a fire at Brown Lake will have eased the situation. A helicopter is also being used for air observations. The fire is not threatening any properties but is causing a large smoke haze, with a south-easterly wind pushing smoke towards the southern bay islands. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed, and if they suffer from respiratory conditions, to keep medication close by. Motorists in the area are advised to drive with caution and check with the Local Council and Queensland Police Service (QPS) as there is restricted access to some roads and camp grounds on the island.
10.45am – Update on closures
- Alfred Martin Way (also known as Tazi Road) remains closed, including Brown Lake
- The Airport remains closed
- Main Beach south of the causeway remains closed.
- The golf course has been reopened and people are being permitted on Alfred Martin Way to use the golf course.
- Traffic is slowed in areas on East Coast Road, but the road remains opened.

Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) crews continue to fight a large bushfire in the vicinity of Brown Lake, North Stradbroke Island. QFES crews advise that there is also a number of small fires on the southern end of North Stradbroke Island which are causing a large smoke haze, affecting southern bay islands, including Russell and Macleay Island. The fires are not threatening any property. Water bombing operations are expected to take place throughout the day. This will be concentrated on fires that are inaccessible by fire crews. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed, and if they suffer from respiratory conditions, to keep medication close by. Motorists in the area are advised to drive with caution and check with the Local Council and Queensland Police Service (QPS) as there is restricted access to some roads and camp grounds on the island.

6.45am – An update on the Straddie fire from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services – QFES
Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) crews continue their efforts to fight a large bushfire in the vicinity of Brown Lake, North Stradbroke Island. Fire crews were successful in protecting properties in the Myora Springs and Gatumba Street area yesterday and worked throughout the night to strengthen containment lines in and around these areas. Water bombing operations will commence at 7am today and this will be concentrated on fires, which are unreachable by fire crews. There is currently no threat to property, however the fire is producing a large smoke haze. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed, and if they suffer from respiratory conditions, to keep medication close by. Motorists in the area are advised to drive with caution and check with the Local Council and Queensland Police Service (QPS) as there is restricted access to some roads and camp grounds on the island.
