Council recognises 2026 King’s Birthday Honours recipients

Redland City Council has recognised the outstanding achievements and distinguished service of the Redlands Coast residents named on the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.

Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the seven local recipients honoured this year had made exceptional contributions to the community and were richly deserving of recognition.

“These recipients represent the very best of Redlands Coast and I thank them for their ongoing dedication and service to the city and broader society,” Cr Talty said.

“While their areas of expertise and backgrounds may be different, they all share a commitment to giving back, improving the lives of others, and making a real difference in the community.

“Their generosity and efforts help to strengthen the social fabric of our city and set a great example for the next generation of Redlanders.

“They consistently go above and beyond the call of duty in their respective roles and conduct themselves with great humility, never seeking out praise for their work.

“I congratulate each of them for this well-deserved recognition and thank them for the meaningful contributions they have made.

“It’s always a proud moment to see Redlanders acknowledged with a national honour, and having seven locals on the list this year is a significant achievement.”

The Redlands Coast recipients of 2026 King’s Birthday Honours are:

Member of the Order of Australia

Mrs Faith Baisden AM – for significant service to Indigenous language preservation and education.

Professor Noel Hayman AM – for significant service to medicine, particularly to Indigenous health care and medical education.

Medal of the Order of Australia

Mrs Annabelle Alexander OAM – for service to the arts, and to the community.

Mr Douglas Alexander OAM – for service to the arts, and to the community.

Mr Charles Sherrin OAM – for service to veterans and their families.

Australian Corrections Medal

Mr Mark Spicer ACM – for distinguished service as a member of an Australian correctional service.

Emergency Services Medal

Mrs Cindel Richardson ESM – for distinguished service as a member of an Australian emergency service.
