Redland City Council has taken the first step to enable revitalisation of the Raby Bay Marina at Cleveland.
At this week’s General Meeting, Council resolved to support an existing local investor and adjoining landowner to seek to secure additional leases of key reserve land and seabed parcels from the Queensland Government at Raby Bay.
Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said the support was a continuation of Council’s focus on revitalising its key precincts, including Cleveland.
“Council has heard the community views that there is a greater opportunity at Raby Bay Marina to deliver improved public areas and offer additional commercial opportunities,” the Mayor said.
“Council is pleased that local developers continue to have the appetite and interest to invest in the city and, particularly, in much-loved community areas such as Raby Bay Marina.”
The Mayor said the local developer had indicated they were keen to continue consultation with Council and the community on the proposal.
“It is important to note that the plan preserves the ongoing public access to the area, with Raby Bay Harbour Park not included in the lease areas,” she said.
