Redlands Coast residents have a special opportunity to celebrate the city’s community heroes with the opening of nominations for the 2025 Redlands Coast Australia Day Awards.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said the Council-run awards helped shine a light on often-unheralded locals who gave so much to their community, as well as the city’s high-achievers.

“Each day there are amazing people out in our community, helping to make life better for others as well as those whose recognised efforts and talents generate such pride in our city,” she said.

“They are the heartbeat of our community – some are seldom visible but are always there and are always appreciated, while others are true ambassadors for Redlands Coast.

“All do so much for our community spirit and wellbeing.

“Over the years, our Redlands Coast Australia Day Awards have honoured the efforts and achievements of hundreds of worthy Redlanders, giving them the recognition they deserve.

“So, if you know someone inspirational, whether an individual, a group or a special talent who makes a difference for Redlands Coast, I urge you to nominate them and shine a light on their contributions.

“There are nine award categories recognising contributions that are very important to our community, so have a think about who is deserving in one of these areas, whether they are a volunteer supporting those in need or working for our wildlife or environment, someone dedicated to bringing our community together, an outstanding leader or someone who is excelling in the arts or sport.”

Online nominations are open for the following award categories:

  • Citizen of the Year (18 years and over)
  • Senior Citizen of the Year (60 years of age or older)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (30 years of age or younger)
  • Local Hero
  • Reconciliation
  • Community Organisation
  • Cultural
  • Sports
  • Environment and Sustainability

For more information on each category or to make a nomination, visit Council’s website.

Nominations will close at 11.59pm on Friday 22 November 2024.

Finalists will be notified and invited to attend the 2025 Redlands Coast Australia Day Awards in January.
