Residents can help shape two of the Redlands’ most important and exciting projects at a series of open houses soon.
These special community briefing sessions will give residents an insight into progress on the Toondah Harbour and Weinam Creek Priority Development Area projects, which will generate jobs and economic growth for the city and region.
The Toondah Harbour open houses will be from 2pm–4pm on Friday 9 August and again on Saturday 10 August at the Island View Cafe at the ferry terminal.

The Weinam Creek Open Houses will be from 4pm–8pm on Thursday 15 August at Russell Island Recreational Hall and from 5pm–7pm on Friday 16 August at Redland Bay Hall.
These sessions are opportunities for residents to explore the projects in more detail, as well as have a say on community issues and what the developments should include.
Survey forms will be available at all open houses, with an online survey for residents unable to attend.
There also is a Register of Interest on Council’s website at www.redland.qld.gov.au.
This gives everyone equal chance to declare their interest in these projects, which will open access to the region’s greatest natural asset, Moreton Bay.
The vision for Toondah Harbour is to turn what is basically a ferry terminal and car park into a dynamic 67 hectare area boasting a marina, marine activities, public spaces, boardwalks, cycling paths, parks, apartments, offices, restaurants, shops and a hotel with conference facilities.
The Weinam Creek transport hub will be potentially transformed into a 42 hectare waterfront recreation precinct which does justice to its role as the gateway to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.
International property firm Jones Lang LaSalle, which is working with Council on the expression-of-interest process, is talking to major development groups about the potential for their involvement in the projects.
This will contribute to the planned development mix to be offered at Toondah Harbour and Weinam Creek in the structure plans, which are already being drafted.
These are expected by the end of September, with expressions of interest to be called late this year.
The projects are two of the first three granted Priority Development Area status by the State Government and mark a coming of age for the Redlands – and a massive vote of confidence in our city’s potential by the Government.
They will be catalysts for local job creation and economic growth, as well as boosting the Redlands’ and Queensland’s tourism credentials.
