Help us, and we can help you – that’s Redland City Council’s passionate plea to our city’s youth.

The request is for young people to have their say via an online platform on what they want in their city and what they expect of their Council.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said it took community collaboration to enact meaningful and sustainable change.

“Others often speak for young people as they are growing up,” Cr Williams said.

“But as they find their own voice in our Redlands Coast community, we want them to be part of the conversation.

“We hope that some ideas in Council’s draft Young People’s Action Plan 2024-2027 can be a basis for conversation and continuing dialogue.

“Being part of an ongoing conversation will help us all understand what matters to our young people.

“Currently open online for community input, the draft Young People’s Action Plan is offered as a basis for building safe, strong and connected communities for our young people.”

Cr Williams said that while Council could provide part of the picture, it was also best positioned to advocate to other levels of government and organisations to make things happen for Redlands Coast.

“We need you to help us put our efforts in the right areas to help you achieve the most,” she said.

“We’re listening, so tell us what you want.”

The consultation period continues until 5 December 2023. To have your say, visit Redlands Coast Young People’s Action Plan 2024-2027.
