Thornlands will be the place to be on Saturday 17 November 2018 when it hosts Redlands Coast’s latest Youth Day Out.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the free Youth Adventure Day, from 11am-3pm at William Stewart Park, Thornlands was the latest in a series of joint events celebrating the City’s young people.

“Youth Day Outs are free events created to celebrate the young people of Redlands Coast and the positive role they play in our community,” Cr Williams said.

“They provide an excellent opportunity to build strong neighbourhoods and create connections between government agencies, community groups and the Redlands Coast community.

“Importantly they are also an avenue for youth to be informed of, and have their say on, Council events, programs and projects – so we’d love to see a big crowd on the day.”

Divisional Councillor for Thornlands Paul Golle said the Youth Adventure Day would be held in partnership by Redland City Council, Redlands PCYC and Queensland Police, with the assistance of volunteers.

“These events are a collaborative effort to give our young people the chance to come together, have fun and be engaged with some of the community services available to support them,” Cr Golle said.

“Organisers have done a great job of planning a variety of activities including laser tag, cricket, basketball, video games and a free sausage sizzle.

“William Stewart Park also has a great skate park, playground and community exercise equipment, so people certainly won’t be lacking for things to do.

“I encourage all Redlands youth to come and join in the activities, make new friends, meet new people and enjoy the facilities the park has to offer.”
