Last week, a light-hearted Redland City Council social media post referencing Taylor Swift’s newly released song Cleveland! went viral sparking hundreds of shares across Facebook and Instagram.
Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the response reflected something deeper than enthusiasm for one of the world’s biggest pop stars.
“I think it’s less about Taylor and more about community pride. We live in an incredible city and people jumped at the chance to celebrate that in a light-hearted way,” Cr Talty said.

The post featured Cleveland Point and playfully suggested the global superstar’s latest song must have been inspired by Redlands Coast.
Residents quickly joined the conversation, sharing the post hundreds of times and helping it become one of Council’s most-viewed posts of the year. It generated more than 272,000 views across Facebook and Instagram, reaching an audience significantly larger than the entire population of Redland City.
The response follows another Taylor Swift-inspired Council campaign that attracted worldwide media attention in 2025.
When speculation surrounding Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce’s wedding dominated headlines, Council cheekily pitched Redlands Coast as the ideal location for the couple’s dream wedding.
What started as a simple social media post soon became an international story, generating coverage in the United Kingdom, India and Uzbekistan, along with Australian television and radio appearances.
The campaign was later recognised with an industry award for its creativity, economic impact and destination marketing outcomes.
While the global attention was unexpected, the latest response suggests Redlands Coast residents simply love seeing their slice of paradise receive the recognition it deserves.
Whether it’s Taylor Swift, destination marketing, or a picturesque shot of Cleveland Point, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Nobody loves sharing the Redlands quite like Redland City residents themselves.
