Redland City State Emergency Service (SES) Unit members have been recognised with major accolades at the 2026 Brisbane Region SES Awards.
The Unit won the Operational Response of the Year Award while seven members received Regional Achievement Awards.
The 2026 Brisbane Region SES Awards were held on 16 May at the Alexandra Hills Hotel Convention Centre – the first time the awards have been hosted on Redlands Coast.

It comes as the SES celebrates 50 years of operating in Queensland. The milestone was marked at the awards with the unveiling of a painting by Redland City SES Cleveland Group Leader Cindel Richardson.
Acting Mayor and Local Disaster Management Group Acting Chair Julie Talty congratulated Redland SES members on their success at the service awards again this year.
She said the awards were for examples of outstanding work by local SES volunteers in keeping residents safe during times of disaster.
“Redlands Coast proudly boasts one of the most awarded and hardest working SES teams in the state,” Cr Talty said.
“It is a pleasure to see them receive such recognition in front of their peers.”
As winners of the Operational Response of the Year – awarded for effective and efficient operation during a major disaster event or emergency incident – Redland City SES Unit is now automatically nominated for the associated state level award, the Assistant Commissioner’s Shield for SES Operational Response of the Year.

Redland City SES Unit members work across a range of voluntary roles, including responding to storm damage to roofs and fallen trees when it impacts a dwelling, flood boat responses, evacuations, first aid and search and rescue.
There are also non-field roles in administration, community education and operational support that are no less important in responding to different types of disasters and emergencies.
