A youth fun festival, an obstacle course, archery and creative activities will all help to activate Queensland Youth Week on Redlands Coast from 11 to 19 April.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said Council had awarded funding to six local not-for-profit organisations to help them deliver free or low-cost events during Queensland Youth Week.

“Council recognises that young people make a significant contribution to the social, economic and cultural life of our community,” the Mayor said.

“Through the Redlands Coast Young People’s Action Plan 2024–2027, Council is committed to creating and promoting opportunities that bring young people together and foster connection.

“One of the outcomes of this action plan is the Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week Program that provides funding for the delivery of community events that are culturally inclusive, intergenerational or lifestyle focused.

“These events enable young people aged 12 to 25 to participate in activities they may not usually be able to access due to cost or other factors.”

The Mayor said a diverse line-up of activities received funding through this year’s Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week Program.

“This includes an obstacle course, a colour run and a youth fun festival evening with glow tennis, a bungee run, music and pizza,” she said.

“There is also archery warfare and hoverball with a free sausage sizzle, a choice of two clay workshops and a creative afternoon of music, art and dance activities.”

Recipients of 2026 Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week funding are:

  • Running Wild Youth Conservation Culture Inc – Youth Week Colour Run on Saturday 11 April on Russell Island.
  • Y Care South East Queensland: Youth Week – Creative Takeover (music, art and dance activities) on 13-17 April in Victoria Point.
  • Redland Community Centre – The Clay Project on Tuesday 14 April in Capalaba. Bookings required.
  • The Cage Youth Foundation – Archery Warfare and Hoverball on Wednesday 15 April in Redland Bay. Bookings required.
