Redland Art Gallery is diving into summer with three new exhibitions opening in late November, each revealing a different facet of life and light on Redlands Coast.
Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said the exhibition program highlighted the Gallery’s commitment to showcasing both leading and emerging artists while nurturing local talent.
“Together, the three exhibitions showcase the region’s creative vitality — from a master of Australian landscape art to a rising new talent capturing light and the many local artists whose work embodies the spirit of community and place,” the Mayor said.

“These exhibitions remind us that the arts are thriving here on Quandamooka Country, and that creativity continues to enrich life on Redlands Coast.”
Leading the season is Water Works by acclaimed Queensland artist Joe Furlonger, whose expressive paintings, drawings, prints and ceramics capture the beauty, danger and rhythm of the sea.
“Joe Furlonger’s work speaks so powerfully to our region’s natural beauty, maritime heritage and the deep connection many of us share with the bay,” the Mayor said.
“The exhibition includes six artworks generously donated to the Redland Art Gallery Collection.”
Drawing on his early years fishing with his father and working aboard trawlers, Furlonger’s work reflects a lifetime of connection with Moreton Bay and the Queensland coast.
The Gallery will also feature emerging Brisbane artist Holly Anderson, whose paintings explore the play of light across water and the glittering shores of our islands, including Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).
In Some Things Too Bright to See, Anderson transforms fleeting light into shimmering fields of colour, revealing how sunlight can alter our sense of space and self. Her paintings invite viewers to slow down and see the celestial within the everyday — whether in ocean horizons or quiet domestic corners.
Completing the trio of exhibitions is In Focus 2025 – Flourish, the annual community exhibition that celebrates the wealth of artists living and working across Redlands Coast. Featuring diverse artworks across media, the exhibition invites visitors to vote for their favourite piece in this year’s new People’s Choice Award.
All exhibitions open from late November 2025 at Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland and The Mezz at Redland Performing Arts Centre.
