Books provide a portal to other worlds, and this summer they could be your portal to prizes as the Redlands Coast Summer Reading Challenge returns.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said this year’s challenge, run by Redland City Council Libraries, was themed around the ability of books to transport readers to strange and wonderful new worlds.

“Books have the power to engage our imaginations and take us on exciting adventures,” the Mayor said.

“The official 2025 reading challenge booklet will allow you to track your reading progress as you complete activities that could earn you Prize Portal entries.”

The official first day of the challenge is Monday 1 December, the start of summer.

How the Summer Reading Challenge works:

  • From December 1, pick up your official challenge booklet from your local Redland City Council Library or Mobile Library and start earning prize entries.
  • Earn prize entries by completing the booklet activities and completing challenges at the libraries.
  • Each week, visit the library for a new challenge. Complete the challenge and fill out a prize entry form.
  • Discover secret clues hidden around the library, and when you find the ‘Golden Key’ fill out an entry form.
  • Place all prize entry forms into the Prize Portals located in the libraries.
  • Weekly lucky dip winners will be announced on the Libraries Facebook page.
  • All prize entries will be eligible for the final grand prize draw to be announced on Monday 2 February 2026.

The final grand prize winner can pick one of the following: two (2) Dreamworld annual passes, a Nintendo Switch, or a gift pack with Bluey’s World tickets.

The challenge is free to enter. Library locations and opening hours are available on Council’s website.
