A diverse range of events will receive a boost from more than $178,000 allocated in round two of Redland City Council’s 2024-2025 Sponsorship Program.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said the 10 sponsored events offered positive and enriching opportunities for the community, as well as economic benefits through the attraction of visitors.

“Council’s sponsorship program provides funding and in-kind support to help organisations deliver events, initiatives and activities that directly benefit the community,” the Mayor said.

“Quandamooka Cultural Awareness Funding is also available to support the delivery of cultural immersion experiences such as smoking ceremonies and cultural demonstrations at Council-sponsored events.

“The diversity of successful applications in this latest round ranges through cultural, sporting and arts events.

“Some of the events have been supported by Council over many years.

“Sponsorship of major events recognises the skill and experience of the organisers in putting together action-packed events that draw large numbers of participants and visitors to Redlands.

“Major events are valuable as they can help build connectedness and give our local economy a boost if visitors spend time in our local area.”

The 10 events sponsored through round 2 of Council’s 2024-2025 Sponsorship program are:

  • GreazeFest 25th Anniversary at the Redland Showgrounds
  • 2025 National Darts Championships at Birkdale
  • Straddie Invitational 2025
  • Grass Roots Bull Riding 2025 (world final) at Thornlands
  • 2025 Goompi Community NAIDOC Celebration
  • Stradbroke Chamber Music Festival 2025
  • 2025 Cleveland Expo at Redland Showgrounds
  • Queensland Primary All Schools Championships (touch football)
  • Queensland Triathlon Series – Raby Bay (three races)
  • ISA Asia-Pacific Tree Climbing Championship

Two of the successful applicants were awarded funding to support Quandamooka cultural awareness and inclusion activities.

Council has provided $295,150 in sponsorship and $13,500 in Quandamooka Cultural Awareness Funding for 23 events as part of its 2024-2025 Sponsorship Program.

More information on Council’s grants and sponsorship program, including awarded grants, is available on Council’s website.
