Redlands Coast residents are reminded that all city parks are closed to the community until further notice to ensure public safety.

With Tropical Cyclone Alfred expected to bring heavy rainfall and destructive winds to the region, the best thing you can do to protect yourself and your family is stay indoors.

The community is advised not to enter any parks or use these facilities even if there is no closure signage visible or the gates appear to have been opened.

The closure includes all playground equipment, exercise equipment, skate parks and BMX tracks.

Council tracks and trails are also closed until further notice due to the risk of hazards such as falling branches and waterlogged ground.

A reopening date for these facilities is dependent on the level of damage caused and will be published once safety assessments can be made after the cyclone passes.

The message is clear – be prepared and stay indoors to keep yourself and your family safe.

Stay up the date with Tropical Cyclone Alfred preparations by monitoring the Redlands Coast Disaster Dashboard at disaster.redland.qld.gov.au.

Regular updates will also be posted on the Redland City Council Facebook page and news website Redlands Coast Today.
