North Stradbroke Island bushfire – Sunday 26 January 2025

The fire that has been burning in bushland on North Stradbroke Island south of Blaksley campground and north of Prices Anchorage in Naree Budjong Djara National Park has been controlled and is within containment lines.

Fire crews remain on site and Queensland Fire Department (QFD) has advised there is currently no threat to people or homes.

QFD has advised that aerial water bombing conducted yesterday was successful, and crews continued to work overnight to further contain the fire.

QFD Stay Informed advice remains in place.

Avoid Smoke advice for Dunwich, across to Main Beach and south to Blaksley campground remains in place.

The fire was started by a lightning strike about 8.10pm on Friday January 24 and is contained to swamp area that is publicly accessible only by water.

Please stay away from the area and do not land boats on the beach at Blaksley campground, which remains closed.
