Redland City Council’s sponsorship of the Tangalooma EcoMarines program will continue in 2025 to support the ongoing delivery of environmental education in Redlands Coast schools.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the not-for-profit program provided students with opportunities to participate in conservation and waste and recycling projects that make a tangible difference in the community.
“Tangalooma EcoMarines has gone from strength to strength on Redlands Coast, with 12 local schools participating in 2024 and another four set to join next year,” the Mayor said.

“It’s fabulous to see so many schools putting up their hand to be involved in this wonderful program and supporting the next generation of eco warriors.
“The contributions from our local students this year included litter pickups, feeding organic food waste to chickens, waste-free lunch box days, compost campaigns and tree plantings.
“Students also worked together to build habitats for important pollinators and created eco-campaigns to educate their school communities.
“Council has been involved in the program since 2022 and is looking forward to continuing its sponsorship in 2025 as more schools join the eco revolution.”
The Mayor congratulated the 2024 cohort for their efforts and achievements across the year.
“We are incredibly proud of the work our young EcoMarines are doing to keep Redlands Coast a naturally wonderful place for all,” she said.
“Based on the number of students involved in the program and their passion for sustainability and conservation, it’s clear the future of our city and our environment is in good hands.”
EcoMarines CEO Angela Massy said the organisation was pleased to have Redland City Council’s support again in 2025.
“Our not-for-profit program aims to foster environmental leaders and positive behaviour change in the community through education and action to protect our local environment,” she said.
“The level of engagement in the program on Redlands Coast has been very impressive over the past year and we have been blown away by what the students have achieved for their communities.”

- Cleveland State School
- Coolnwynpin State School
- Dunwich State School
- Hilliard State School
- Macleay Island State School
- Russell Island State School
- Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School
- Victoria Point State School
- Vienna Woods State School
- Wellington Point State School
New schools confirmed for 2025 are:

- Redland Bay State School
- Sheldon College
- St Anthony’s Primary School
