Festive Friday Flicks feature four family film favourites

UPDATE: the lighting of the Redlands Coast Christmas tree event in Raby Bay Harbour Park has been postponed until 29 November due to the wet weather
UPDATE: the Festive Friday Flicks screening of Arthur Christmas at Capalaba has been postponed until 6pm, 20 December 

Capture the spirit of Christmas through film with a four-week Festive Friday Flicks program as part of Redland City Council’s Christmas on Redlands Coast.

The free movie in the park events will start with The Santa Clause at 6.30pm on Friday 22 November, following the launch of Christmas on Redlands Coast and the traditional Lighting of the Christmas Tree at Raby Bay Harbour Park, Shore Street West, Cleveland.

  • Arthur Christmas at Capalaba Regional Park, Pittwin Road North, Capalaba at 6pm on 29 November,
  • Elf at Ron Stark Oval, Dunwich, North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) at 6pm on 6 December, and
  • Home Alone 2: Lost in New York at Thornlands Community Park, Waterline Boulevard, Thornlands at 6pm on 13 December.

Each Festive Friday Flicks event will start at 4.30pm and will include free photos with Santa, a roving performer, festive lighting, and food and drinks for purchase.

Movie goers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and food and drinks (non-alcoholic beverages only and no glass). A list of permitted and prohibited items is available on Council’s website.

For the comfort of all movie goers, no pets are allowed except for service animals such as guide dogs and assistance dogs.

SeaLink has sponsored one-way passenger ferry travel from the North Stradbroke Island event; providing free travel from Dunwich at 7.55pm on 6 December. Visitors are required to purchase their own tickets to the island. More information on how to book the free ticket is available on Council’s website.

The Christmas on Redlands Coast program also includes an augmented reality Christmas Trail that animates nine locations, an interactive colouring competition, Santa’s Hotline, and lighting displays at four locations.
