Council closures for Redlands Coast Ekka public holiday

The Brisbane Ekka public holiday on Redlands Coast will be held on Monday 12 August 2024 and there will be some changes to availability of Council services on this day.

Street closure: The annual Crazy Day Markets will be held on Wednesday 14 August in Bloomfield Street, Cleveland from 9am to 2pm. Bloomfield Street will be closed off between Middle Street and Queen Street for vehicles to accommodate the stalls for the markets.

Redland City Council offices, customer service centres and libraries will be closed on Monday 12 August for the public holiday.

For council-related emergencies, please phone 3829 8999.

During this time, Council’s online services will also be available at redland.qld.gov.au to:

  • report non-urgent issues,
  • register an animal or update animal details,
  • view your rates notices or change your address,
  • conduct property searches, lodge a development application or a submission against an application, and
  • pay bills online – such as rates notices, animal registration and infringement notices.

Library after hours return chutes will be closed and no library items will be due.

The full digital library of eBooks, eMagazines  eAudiobooks, digital newspapers and streaming of music, movies and TV shows will be available via the Council Libraries website.

The 24/7 Library lockers outside Cleveland Library will also be available to collect reserved items.

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, café, native nursery and botanic gardens

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, IndigiCafe, the Native Nursery and Botanic Gardens will all be closed on the public holiday.

Walking tracks will remain open.

Bin collections

All bin collections will continue as usual on the public holiday.

Please note, there are no new bin deliveries or exchanges on public holidays. Report any missed services online or by calling 3829 8999.

Recycling and Waste Centres

All mainland and island Recycling and Waste Centres will be open on the public holiday.

Residents should check the Council website for all opening times.

Redland Animal Shelter

The Redland Animal Shelter will be open from 9am to 12pm on the public holiday.

The shelter can be contacted on 3829 8663 during opening hours and on 3829 8999 after hours.

Redland Performing Arts Centre

The RPAC Box Office will be closed on the public holiday.

During this time, tickets can be purchased online via rpac.com.au

Redland Art Gallery

The gallery at Cleveland will be closed on the public holiday.

Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre

The centre in the Raby Bay Harbour Precinct, Cleveland will be open from 9am-4pm on the public holiday.
